Immediately as soon as I was using it I was having a ball! I love thrifting and Karrot is like thrifting online but in your community. What makes it unique is that it also feels like social media. When you’re scrolling through it’s infinite like Instagram & Tiktok cause the feed just goes on forever. It makes it addicting but also so much fun. I found so many crazy deals and just the rush of getting something so cool for such a good price made me want to use Karrot more and more. Q: Most memorable transaction experience? One of the most memorable was the very first one. I bought Marc Jacobs sunglasses for only $20! For some reason (perhaps I had an online appointment) I couldn’t leave my apartment that day but we had agreed to meet up. I apologized to her and she said “No worries at all, let me bring it to you”. So the seller BROUGHT it to my apartment door even though she was probably around 20min walk away from me! She even asked if I was sure the $20 is ok and offered to sell it for $15. I was already super happy with the $20 so I told her it was completely fine. It blew me away how nice people on Karrot can be. Q: What made you continue to use Karrot? Karrot has saved me SO much money. You don’t understand how much money I’ve saved on Karrot - it’s cheaper than thrifting in person. More often than not I see the price points that people list their items for are really attractive. Just the other day i got a Juicy Couture cashmere zip up hoodie in perfect condition for $9! You could never find that price point at a thrift store. Q: Tips for buying? The app has a “search alerts” feature which is my favourite. I’ll have specific items I’m looking for, for example an Artizia TNA super puff, and I always setup notifications for when people post. So I immediately jump on whatever deal I can find when I get those alerts. I usually try to be as specific as I can and include the size. Q: Tips for selling? For selling, it’s always nice to be generous to the community and price your items fairly. I find so many great deals on Karrot which makes me want to give back and price my own items affordably. Q: What do you think makes the Karrot community special compared to other buy and sell platforms? Overall generosity of people and general kindness. People can be incredibly generous - for example some people are even giving away things that are worth $40-$50. Kijiji messages were always very cold and transactional. I also love the rating system and sending a nice positive message after! It’s like a little thank you note. Almost every single time I’ve received a review after the transaction.
