Meet Naia 👋 🏡 Neighbourhood: Mount Pleasant, Vancouver 🚀 Karrot Status: Skilled Karroter 💗 Describe Karrot in a phrase: “An enjoyable experience for finding hidden gems!” 🥕 Naia's profile: karrot://hash_users/kLznY792BMmogbed Why Choose Secondhand? Growing up I always thought it was a neat idea that someone else’s junk could be your treasure. I like to save money and help out other people that are trying to get rid of items, plus I don’t like to support fast fashion too much so I thrift whenever I can. Why Karrot? Right off the bat it felt more safe and welcoming. In the first month of joining I noticed there was a huge sense of community in the app and it felt like everyone was there to support each other. There are even team challenges and contests where we were all helping each other. I’ve recently been in contact with this one girl who invited me to join bible study! It’s not like that on other marketplaces. Karrot makes it a lot safer and everyone feels like real humans on there. First Karrot Experience I was on the hunt for a painting easel, and one popped up on my feed. This person was so lovely that when we met in person, she took the time and went out of her way to disassemble the paint easel and reassembled it just to show me how to put it together. I was like “wow that was so nice of her, she didn’t even have to do that”! It was such an uplifting secondhand experience. Memorable Karrot Story I gave away a Blue Jays hat as part of Freecycle. I’m originally from the Toronto area and I used to go to the Blue Jays games all the time but now that I’m on the west coast and it’s just been sitting in my house collecting dust. It was memorable for me because of the person’s reaction. He was so amazed and couldn’t believed that I was giving it away a pricey Blue Jays hat. It was for his friend who loved the Toronto Blue Jays and I felt really great that I just made not 1, but 2 people’s day :) Biggest Tip When you Boost an item, always lower the price just a little bit each time. The app actually notifies other people who’ve favourited your item and it helps you sell faster. I learned it the hard way when I boosted an item 15 times and eventually ran out of boosts. I didn’t lower the price once and was wondering why it wasn’t selling 🤣 Other Tips - Photos sell. The more clear photos you have the better. People can’t tell much from just 1 photo or a blurry photo. - Be honest and flexible in terms of what you’re selling and communicating. Leaving and receiving positive reviews is a great way to increase your Karroter Score so you always want to make sure you’re being kind and responsive to others!
