ww1 Miniature Quran perfectly legible magnifying glass.

Item is a rare antique miniature Koran/Quran, published in 1906 by David Bryce & Sons, enclosed in a metal pendant/locket with an inset magnifying glass. The text of the book is Arabic with a gilt stamped cover. It is enclosed in the original locket measuring 3.3 x 2.7 x 1.2 H cm. The book itself measure 2.5 x 1.9 cm.This piece of history is becoming increasingly difficult to find, and many copies were supplied to Indian and Muslim soldiers fighting for the British in World War I. The printing of miniature Korans came with the arrival of photolithographic techniques in the late 19th century. The metal locket with clasp allowed it be easily worn around the neck of soldiers.The metal locket shows tarnish, but the clasp works and keeps the Koran properly enclosed. The Koran itself is in very good condition
